Ski Passes
An 8-week student lift pass or a Century Pass (season pass) to Wachusett Mountain is needed for the program. The 8-week student lift pass is valid for the 8 nights of the Ski Program. 8 week Student Lift badges (not Century Passes) will be distributed on the bus on the way up to the mountain each week and collected on the bus ride back each week. The student will be responsible for his/her pass once it is received and until it is collected on the bus ride home. If the pass is lost, a replacement fee of $15.00 will be charged by Wachusett Mountain.
Century Passes are valid for skiing other days in addition to the 8 nights of the program. Those who elect a Century Pass instead of the 8-week pass will be notified by the mountain 3-5 weeks after I submit the applications. You will need to go to the mountain to have your picture taken and pick up your pass. The student will be responsible to bring his/her Century pass each week.
Equipment Rental
Ski, snowboard and helmet rentals and lessons are available from Wachusett Mountain. Please select these services on your registration form and the student’s badge will indicate if they are renting. Equipment needs to be returned at the end of each night of skiing. If there is a chance Santa will be bringing your child skis or a snowboard or a helmet, it is best to wait until after Christmas to rent those items. Wachusett will only issue mountain credit if you have paid for these items and then change later. You can arrange for rentals any time up to the first Ski Club day.
Lessons
Lessons are REQUIRED for Beginners and Novices and will make your first few times on the mountain much more fun. If you wish to take lessons, please select the appropriate amount on the registration form. Although the student’s ability level is marked on the registration form, the student can take lessons at any level. For example, the student can take a few lessons at the “Novice” level then progress to the “Intermediate” level lessons later in the season. This year's lessons start at 3:50PM
Ski Watch
Ski Watch is a free service offered by Wachusett Mountain to prevent ski/board theft. You can get more details about it here Ski Watch. Wachusett also offers ski locks through Ski Key, click here to see how that works
Bus Transportation
The bus cost for our eight week session is $105. The busses will leave Whitin Middle School (for grades 5-8) and from Uxbridge High School (grades 9-12) at approx. 2:15pm. Middle School students will gather in the cafeteria after dismissal on Ski Club days. After the regular school busses have left the circle we will begin boarding. It will be the student’s responsibility to get their equipment and themselves onto the bus quickly when directed to do so. Attendance will be taken on the bus before leaving the schools and verified before the busses leave the mountain at the end of the night. Any student who fails to be on the bus when it departs the school will be assumed to have cancelled for that day.
At the end of the night, the busses will be ready for boarding around 7:15pm and will leave Wachusett mountain at 7:30pm sharp. Any student who fails to be on the bus by 7:30pm and causes the return to be delayed may jeopardize their future privileges.
Busses from Whitin will return to TAFT SCHOOL at approximately 8:30. The bus from the High School will return to the High School. Please be prompt and pick up your child on time.
Skis and boards and equipment can be stored in designated areas at the schools on the days of the program. Please drop off your equipment in the morning, before school. Ski/Board equipment is not allowed on school busses, you must make arrangements to get your child's equipment to Whitin or the High School on the day of Ski Club. Please enter through the door on the left hand side of the Whitin cafeteria (door is numbered 16) on ski club days if you are bringing equipment, Whitin Administration has requested that no equipment come through the front doors of Whitin. Equipment at the High School will be stored in the gym lobby on ski club days.
Inclement Weather and Cancellation
If the ski area and Uxbridge Public Schools are both open, the program will be held as planned. If either the school district or Mountain is not open due to inclement weather, the program will be cancelled that night and a make-up date will be scheduled.
If a cancellation occurs, it is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to arrange pick-up of the student’s equipment that Tuesday. No equipment may be left overnight at the schools.
Cancellations will be announced at Whitin Middle School and Uxbridge High School.
If Uxbridge Schools are cancelled and the mountain is open, then lessons may not be made up.
Meals
Students may bring snacks and food to be eaten at the mountain. Wachusett Mountain also has good food services, although skiing time is limited and the mountain cafeteria can be expensive. If you don't want to send cash with your child, consider the Wachusett COW card, a replenishable card good for food etc at the mountain. For information on the COW card click here.
Books and Personal Property
The schools will be closed and locked when we return so all books, backpacks, ski equipment and personal property will be brought on the bus with the student or alternative arrangements should be made. Backpacks and other non-ski equipment can be left on the bus while we are at the mountain however the bus company, the chaperones, and the coordinator are not responsible for lost or stolen articles. Any items left on the bus will not be accessible while at the mountain (the busses park in a distant lot).
Missed Ski Days
If your child is sick or misses a Ski Club day for any reason, Wachusett will give a coupon worth $18 for use at another time. See Ski Club coordinator for coupons. There are no refunds for rentals or lessons for missed sessions. There are also no refunds for bus transportation.
Refunds due to Injury or Changes in Rental Equipment
If your child is injured or can not participate in Ski Club after fees have been paid or you wish to add or change rental equipment, you must submit your request to Wachusett Mountain in writing. A note from the doctor with date of injury must also be supplied. No cash refunds are given, only Wachusett Mountain credit and a processing fee of $10 is charged. A sample injury cancellation letter can be found here, A sample rental change letter can be found here, please contact the Ski Club coordinator for more information.
